Tips_and_Tricks

bullet1 MindManager

bullet2 ISP Requirements for Web Pages

There are a few things that have certainly frustrated me and to save you the annoyance here they are:
  • Freeserve:  Does not work with the folder name "mmicons", which MindManger uses for storing the icon files when you use Java layouts.  So everything works fine on your hard drive but when exported to your web space, an error message appears in the Java folder window.

Solution Part 1: Rename the folder to "picts" (that what I use but you are free to choose) before exporting.  Aah! but you still have to find and replace all the html which refers to this folder.

Solution Part 2: Use a tool like
BK ReplaceEm , a relatively simple piece of freeware or MindManuals  have a much more extensive pre/post export editing tool called Mongoose.

Remaining Problem: You have to do this each time before posting your web page.

  • CompuServe: Same as Freeserve.

  • ClaraNet: Does not accept file names with spaces or @ in them.

Solution: remove all spaces or replace with"_".

Remaining Problem: The mindmap file names are your web page titles! After exporting use View > Source in your browser to edit the title, restore the space and then save the page. Notepad may be the best editor for this, many of the others will try to do more than you want.
